Laboratory

The Laboratory of Fundamental and Applied Bioenergetics (LBFA) has acquired a unique mix of expertise in metabolic research during its almost 25 years of existence, with core competences in energy homeostasis and mitochondrial function in health and disease. Projects range from fundamental (kinases in energy signaling, cell death) to applied (preventive or curative strategies in human health and disease). We thus follow an integrative, systems approach ranging from molecules to the clinics.

LBFA is a medium-size unit with about 30 permanent staff. Their affiliation with four different departments (UFRs: Chemistry-Biology, Exercise Physiology, Pharmacy and Medicine) strongly favors interdisciplinary research.

Located at the UGA campus in Gières/St. Martin d’Hères, we occupy about 3000 m² of office and lab space. This includes a new research building inaugurated in 2016, which offers state-of-the-art facilities for cell culture, metabolic analysis, imaging and proteomics/protein biochemistry.
