Research Interests

My research is mainly centered on the energy metabolism, starting with my PhD studies and postdoctoral projects on muscle lactate transport and metabolism during exercise and after training.
I then oriented my work on intermediate metabolism and chronic diseases (COPD, diabetes, obesity), with a focus on the mitochondrial function using various experimental constraints (high-fat diet, insulin-resistance, exercise, hypoxia, aging, inflammation...) on different tissues (muscle, heart, liver, blood, adipose tissue).
Lately, results obtained on hypoxia, inflammation, and nutrition led me to concentrate on the role of epigenetic factors on substrate handling, whole body metabolism, and their relations with the hypertrophic capacities of the skeletal muscle. I developed collaborations throughout with private companies (GlaxoSmithKline, ASL Santé des Lipides,...) and academic institutions.
I also have scientific collaborations on exercise metabolism and performance (lactate metabolism and transport, thresholds...).
